Day Fourteen: Laughter!

It is important for us to laugh often in this world.  I'm thankful to God for a hubby who makes me laugh with his silliness and silly jokes sometimes. :-)

A merry heart does good,

like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.

Day Thirteen: Prayer!

I value prayer! I cherish the moments that we have spent together praying for each other and others.  Prayer is so important to our marriage and it is something that I wished we did together on a daily basis as a family.  But today I am thankful to God for the times that we have prayed together and my prayer is that we will increase in our times of prayer even the more. Thank you for taking the time to spend time with God and me in prayer.

Father, thank you for the privilege to be able to come to you in prayer through Your Son Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and thank You, Daddy, for hearing our prayers and may Your Holy Spirit urge us all the more to pray without ceasing in Jesus name. Amen!

Day Twelve: Walking!

I remember when we first started out on this journey together that I would often ask you to take walks with me and you frequently told me no.  I remember how disappointed I would be because I looked forward to walking and talking with you and just enjoying the outdoors.

I am thankful today that after years of asking, you are now willing to go and have gone on walks with me. I'm thankful for it because it is not only good for our bodies but it is also good for our relationship.  Thank you for taking walks with me. I really appreciate it!

Day Eleven: The Word!

Honey, today I am especially thankful to God for your passion for His Word of Truth.  It has been a tremendous encouragement to me.  I am grateful to God for using you and your gift of teaching His Word to impact my life in a positive way.  You are truly a teacher of God's Word.  He has certainly gifted you to teach His Word of Truth to His people.  Thank you for teaching me about God's Word and also for guiding me in the areas of how to spot false teachings. I am a blessed woman first to have Jesus as my Lord and Savior and second to have a husband that knows His Word and teaches it to me.  Thank you!  I love you and appreciate you and God's gift in you to me and others!!!  Thank you for allowing the Lord to have His way in your life so that you would be a blessing to me and others.  God Bless You Beloved of God!

Day Ten: Community!

Well, today, I am thankful to God that you are someone who takes an active role in our community.  I think it is definitely fulfilling the commandment of loving your neighbor as yourself.  Thank you for being a man who cares about what is happening in our neighborhood and willingly take action to make things better and safer. I appreciate the fact that you don't turn a blind eye to crime and you are not afraid to do what is right in the face of danger.  I thank God for your courage in this area.
I love you! :-)  May the Lord, continue to lead you and guide you in this area Man of God and May you always follow His instructions and guidance. Lord, may your will be done continually in my hubby's life and keep him covered, strengthened and protected from hurt, harm, evil, and danger as he seeks first your Kingdom and Righteousness... in Jesus Name! Amen!

Day Nine: Ironing!

Hubby, not only do you know how to do your own laundry but you also iron your clothes when needed.  I'm so thankful that you know how to iron your clothing and you don't mind doing it at all.  As a matter of fact I remember times when you have ironed for me and I for you.  But I'm thankful that you do iron your clothes for the most part.

I thank God for you and also for the fact that we have a system that works for us and we don't have to try to fit in anyone's mold.

Day Eight: Laundry!

Today, I'm thankful that my hubby knows how to do his own laundry.  He is very good at it!  He likes to do his own laundry and he also knows how to pack them away as well.  At one point and time I use to be annoyed that he did only his laundry and when we first started out I would do both of our laundry.  I felt that it was only fair that he would do all the laundry as well.  However, I am just now reminded that he did try to do both of our laundry a couple of times but I have a particular way that I like mine done and he has a particular way that he likes his done.  So to solve it all we both do our own laundry... Well, I do everything else except his clothing which he does.  So it works out just fine for the two of us.

Honey, thank you for sharing in the household duties by doing your laundry :-)

Pressing on to Know the Lord

Pressing on to Know the Lord
Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
(Phi_3:13-14)

We have noted that humility is one of the relational realities that God wants to develop in our lives so we can live daily by the grace of God. "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble" (Jam_4:6). Here we see evidence of the godly humility that had developed in the Apostle Paul through the years. "Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended." When these words were written, Paul had been walking with the Lord for 25 to 30 years. Yet, he admits that he had not "fully arrived." He confesses that he did not know the Lord so completely that his entire life was a demonstration of resurrection living. Consequently, he had one great goal that directed his life and service: "one thing I do." His all-consuming passion was to get to know the Lord more and more: "that I may know Him" (Phi_3:10).

One of the significant issues that keeps believers in Christ from knowing the Lord better is their past. Many Christians focus their attention on their past. Failures of the past plague them with condemnation. Wrongs done to them in the past tempt them to self-pity or bitterness. Past successes give false assurance that things must go well today. Past blessings distract them from seeking the Lord's fresh work in their lives now. Paul gives us all a wonderful example of how to deal with the past: "forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead." Things of the past need not dominate our present. God's grace can cover past failures and pains. Today, we need to look forward to the next work of grace that He wants to bring forth as we walk on with Him.

God wants us to move forward, looking upward. "I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." The goal is to get to know the Lord better. We are to press toward that goal, exerting all of the spiritual strength and energy that God's grace supplies. This is our reply to God's heavenly call to seek Him, to know Him. Along the way, we will partake of the prize that comes with that goal. The prize is every blessing that results from getting to know Him better. Let's press on to know the Lord!

Lord Jesus, help me to forget things of the past that would distract me from You. I want to press ahead to get to know You better. Please reveal Yourself to me through Your word. I humbly ask You to demonstrate Your grace to me in and through my life, in Your name, Amen.

Day Seven: Dishes!

Honey, I'm so thankful for the times you have washed the dishes.  In this day and age some people have the luxury of a dishwasher and we don't.  I know it is not your favorite thing to do and you don't really like to do it.  However, I appreciate all the times you have helped by washing the dishes and putting them away in their rightful place.

Thank you for being willing to do the things that you don't necessarily like to do but do them anyway just for me.

Day Six: Trash!

Honey, I'm smiling at the title, please Do Not Get The Wrong Idea before reading the rest of this post :-).

I really appreciate the fact that you don't mind taking out the trash and garbage.  You know that I don't like to do it and I'm so glad that one of us don't mind doing it. Though it may seem like a small thing... It is the little things that count for me.  Thank you for taking out the trash these 10 years and 8 months that we have been married. I love you!

Day Five: Surprise!

Honey, I'm reflecting today on how good you are at surprising me.  You have surprised me many times and I'm thankful for that.  I like surprises :-)  Not only do you know how to surprise me, you always know exactly what to surprise me with and the fact that I always like what you surprise me with.

I realize that yes, I forget sometimes... Okay, more often than I'd like to admit it but you do pay attention to the simple things that will brighten my day or put a smile on my face.  It really is the little things that makes me happy.  You do know this! Which is why at times the other little unpleasant/unlikeable things can dampen my day... With me it works both ways you know :-).

This is another reason why I do need to remember the good because when I really take the time to remember I realize that the good outweighs the bad.  What's even more special for us is that God and only Him can also take the adverse and work it together for good so in a way it's all good in end.  We serve a good God and I'm glad that you love Him too :-).

I love you Honey and I appreciate the fact that you sure know how to make me feel special by your many surprises for me throughout the years.  Below is a video of various times you surprised me with something. :-)  I thank God for you!

Day Four: Thoughtful!

Hubby, for as long as I can remember you have always been a thoughtful person when it comes to giving gifts.  You have a knack for noticing the things that people like and then get it  for them whenever you are able to, especially on special occasions.

Here is a picture of something you purchased for me a few years ago.  I remembered looking at it and saying how nice it was and then walked away and I don't even think you were at the table with me when I said that.  Next thing I know you gave it to me later on that day or perhaps it was the next day as a gift and I wore it to an evening service during that particular week at our State conference.  Thank you Honey for being a thoughtful giver.

Day Three: Cooks Good Chili!

I am smiling as I am typing this one today.  Though it may seem simple, I really love this about my hubby.  He makes great chili.  His chili will keep you going back for more and more until it's done.  I look forward to every time my hubby makes chili.  It's so good!!! LOL...

Honey, thank you for being willing to cook and share your chili and the recipe with me ;-).  I'm grateful to God for you and all that great chili making that you do and with the kick that you cook it with.  Ummm,  I don't think you ever shared with me what you added to your chili to give it such a nice kick in the spices to it when I ate it last.  Did you notice that my chili didn't come out with that kick that yours had even though I pretty much used the same ingredients you did minus the beans and a different type of meat. I know you will share it with me next time.  Honey I love you and thank God for you.  I appreciate you :-).

Here is a picture of my most recent chili that I made.  The one below it was from the one my hubby made and I ate.  I left the beans because I don't like beans.  I tried to eat the beans but they just get in the way. I never liked beans even when I was a little girl.  I just don't like them.  Notice that the chili I made does not have beans in it.  :-)

Day Two: Giver :-)

Today, I'm thankful to God for a husband who likes to give to others.  He is a giver at heart.  He has been so kind to me and shares everything with me.  He has given me so much and I know that if there is ever anything I want or need and he has it - he will always offer it to me.  He likes to share.  He likes to give not only to me but I've seen him give to so many others as well and he takes delight in giving especially when he knows that it is going to a great cause and will further the kingdom of God or simply bless someone who is in need.  Honey, I thank God for you being so kind and so giving and not just of money/material possessions but also of your time and talent.

I love you!

This first picture is of various children in our neighborhood.  During the summer about 3 years ago hubby came up with the idea to bless the our neighbors and their children in our neighborhood with a barbecue (hot dogs, burgers, etc.).  It was a good day and the neighbors and children who stopped by enjoyed this show of love to them.  My hubby is a true giver.

Day One: My Best Friend :-)

I've decided to count my blessings and name them one by one.  I have so many blessings to thank God for.  God has truly blessed me with very good friend name Justin who is my hubby.

He is my best friend because he knows me the most.  He has seen me through the good, the bad, the ugly, the sad, my ups, my downs, my tears, my joys, my struggles, and my victories.  Through it all he has always been there.

Honey you know me most next to God who knows me best.  I'm grateful that even though you've seen the best and the worst of me. You still love me, care about me, and is there for me whenever I need you.  Thank you for being a true friend to me over the last 12-13 years that we've known each other. You are God's blessing to me! Thank You, Lord for my Best Friend, who is also my husband, Justin.

Thank you Honey and I love you!
